The Ticonderoga Heritage Museum & Visitor Center has announced the unveiling of its new Pencil Sculpture on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 4:30 PM in front of the Museum at 137 Montcalm Street, near Percy Thompson Bicentennial Park in Downtown Ticonderoga.

A ribbon-cutting event, in collaboration with the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce, will mark the special occasion.

Crafted by artist Chris Sharp and fabricated with support from Richard Bertsche, A&S Customs Autobody & Repair, and Ron Pritt, the sculpture features six Dixon Ticonderoga No.2 yellow pencils arranged in a conical style.

The sculpture, funded by Denise Huestis, commemorates Ticonderoga’s industrial heritage, which is rooted in American Graphite’s historical contributions.

Following the ceremony, the museum will offer light refreshments and invite guests to explore exhibits on Ticonderoga’s industrial history along La Chute River.
