You will find this rushing series of rapids on the Sacandaga River in Wells, NY.
There are 2 trails you can take to access Auger Falls:
1. Auger Falls Trail Eastside
Drive northeast on NY 8 from the junction of NY 30 for 2.6 miles, and you'll see a dirt road on your left toward Griffon, an old abandoned town. Park near the bridge.
From there, follow the dirt road and you will pass a camp in 0.5 miles. Follow the red snowmobile markers once you go through the barrier, and the dirt road will become a grassy lane. After a mile, a side trail will appear on your left, and this trail leads to the falls.
2. Auger Falls Loop or Auger Falls Trail Westside
From the junction of NY 30 and NY 8, continue 1.7 miles north and you'll see an unmarked dirt road and large parking area on your right.
Once you park, walk back toward NY 30 and turn left on a dirt road right before you reach the main road. 0.2 miles in, you'll see a small parking area with a well-worn trail on your left. It is recommended you walk to this parking area, don't drive to it.
The worn trail will take you directly to multiple side trails that take you to different portions of the top of the gorge.
You can either choose to head back the way you came, or follow the trail to continue the loop.
