Lake Pleasant and Sacandaga Lake are great bodies of water for anglers in Hamilton County.
Lake Pleasant and Sacanagaga are two bodies of water connected by a navigable channel and great for fishing. Both waters have great brown trout and rainbow trout populations due to the large stockings by the DEC. Browns and rainbows have been thriving in both of lakes because of the giant rainbow smelt population every year. Lake Pleasant is better for trout fishing because they are located throughout all areas of the lake.
Pickerel can be found in the weedy areas.
Both lakes have a decent number of smallmouth bass and excellent early season walleye fishing.
To access Lake Pleasant anglers can use the town launch near the outlet at Sacandaga River, outside of Speculator. There is a launch for Sacanadaga Lake at the Moffitt Beach State Campground.
