Northland Carpentry recently completed a 18 x 20 addition to our existing home, as well as resided the entire house with vinyl siding. We couldn't be more pleased. It was our first Christmas in our newly purchased house, and the Christmas toys belonging to our two young grandsons were all over the place. To get through the kitchen without crushing one of these valued items was not only an athletic challenge, but also a matter of risking life and limb. During our post holiday debriefing, my wife and I decided that the only way to avoid this type of situation in the future was to “finish off” our basement. Being somewhat of a handyman I felt that I could accomplish this task, but good fortune prevailed, and we received a flyer in our mailbox promoting North Land Custom Carpentry. Finishing basements was among the services they offered, so we immediately called the number stated on the flyer. We spoke to Jeff Inglee, who is the co-owner of the company, and he was most responsive to our inquiry. Within a day or two he came to our home to evaluate the magnitude of the work to be completed, and to spend time with my wife and myself reviewing other projects he had completed. Additionally, we spent considerable time talking about our vision as to what our finished product should look like. The conversation was easy going and relaxed, and a bond of trust with Jeff was immediately established. Being the reliable person he is, he returned within a few days and presented us with his cost figures, which we felt were reasonable and acceptable. After our agreement was formalized, the work began the next day. Several men arrived, and quickly began transforming a large empty space into a wonderful living area that includes an office, two large closets, a pool table area, a bar and a half bath. They were a hard working crew, and considerable progress was made each day. Furthermore, they were clean in their work, and made sure to sweep up and take care of their tools at the end of each workday. Yes, they were skilled craftsmen, but beyond that, they were more than pleasant, and a joy to have around the house. They even maintained their good humor, when my wife made some mid-course changes in the construction plans. Yikes! Not only did the kids ultimately have a place to play, but the adults also had a great area to savor “a bit of the grape”, play pool, and watch important sporting events on TV. Needless to say, my wife and I believe that our decision to have NLCC reshape our basement was one of the best decisions we ever made. We couldn’t be happier!
