Raquette Lake is the home for New York State's broodstock lake trout.
Raquette Lake also has three lake basins. The northern basin is great for lake trout fishing, especially in the deep water area near Beecher Island.
The middle basin is great for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. The smallmouth's will in any basin especially along rocky shorelines.
Good brook trout fishing occurs in the month of May at the mouth of the Marion River in the southern basin.
Anglers can access the town launch in the village of Raquette Lake. There are several private marinas (small fee) along the southern shore that also have laucnh ramps. The Golden Beach State Campground has a shallow sand car-top launch in the south basin on the west side.
