The West Canada Lake Wilderness is nearly half of Hamilton County and has over 50 ponds.
The large area promises a great experience with many chances to land brook trout. Of the dozens of lakes here, Cedar and Spruce are known as the best waters for brook trout. If you are looking for a wilderness experience, try the pocket of ponds two miles southwest of Spruce Lake.
Anglers will find it very challenging to reach most of the waters in this massive wilderness area. A rough jeep road from Perkins Clearing provides the closest access with a 3.5 mile hike from the end of the road which is 9.3 miles from Perkins Clearing.
There are 16 lean-tos available.
