Community Resources for the Adirondack Region
During difficult times, the communities of the Adirondack region come together to offer a helping hand to those in need. If you or your loved ones have found themselves in a time of crisis, local organizations will work with compassion and discretion to help people get back on their feet. Below is a list of essential community resources and services available to local residents in the Adirondacks.
Local Community Resources and Services
Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York: To find the nearest food pantry in the Adirondacks, visit the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York's website and use their "Find Nearest Agency" search map.
United Way: In the southern Adirondacks, you can dial 2-1-1 to obtain help from the United Way. Their services include housing, utility assistance, food, health care, and more.
Citizen Advocates: Offers mental health, addiction recovery, community housing, youth services, and more throughout Northern New York, in Franklin, St. Lawrence, Clinton, Essex, Jefferson, and Hamilton counties.
ADK Action (Keeseville NY): Offers a Fair Food Program that provides funding to qualified households in Clinton, Franklin, Essex, and Hamilton Counties to purchase locally sourced foods. They also provide a Community Garden in Keeseville where community members can get free produce.
Adirondack Community Outreach Center (North Creek NY): Provides a Food and Personal Care Pantry, a Family Clothing Center, a School Backpack Program, a Kids Summer Meals Program, and more to support the local area.
Inlet Community Church (Inlet NY): Offers a Food Pantry, transportation, and financial assistance programs to those in need.
Long Lake Wesleyan Church (Long Lake NY): Provides a Food Pantry to anyone in need.
Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church (Old Forge NY): Provides an emergency community Food Pantry to residents of the area who are in need.
North Country Ministry (Warrensburg NY): Offers a Food Pantry, Furniture Program, a Clothing Center, and more assistance programs. They also offer a Food Pantry to those in need in Brant Lake.
Schroon Lake Community Church (Schroon Lake NY): Offers a handicap-accessible Food Pantry to those in need.
St. Agnes Catholic Church (Lake Placid NY): Offers a Food Pantry and a Thrift Shop to those in need.
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (Saranac Lake NY): Provides a Community Lunchbox program where hot meals are served twice weekly. They also offer a Grace Pantry that provides household and personal items.
The Ecumenical Council of Saranac Lake (Saranac Lake NY): Provides a Grace Pantry, a non-food pantry with personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies, diapers, and more. They also offer a Transitional Housing center, the Samaritan House, to help the homeless in Franklin and Essex Counties.
Ticonderoga First United Methodist Church (Ticonderoga NY): Offers a Food Pantry and a Thrift Shop to residents of the area.
Tupper Lake Community Food Pantry (Tupper Lake NY): Provides a Food Pantry to those in need.
Support the Local Community
The Adirondack Foundation's Special and Urgent Needs Fund (SUN) is accepting donations. SUN is a responsive granting resource that can be deployed to assist Adirondack communities during times of crisis.
