Teddy Roosevelt (TR) Weekend in Newcomb

About this event

Teddy Roosevelt Weekend is one of Newcomb’s favorite events with fun things to see and do for the whole family.

A great deal of planning, preparation, and scheduling by dedicated committee members always brings a variety of activities all throughout town, all weekend long. Some are centered around the anniversary of TR’s famous trek out of Mt. Marcy’s wilderness into Newcomb to become the 26th President.

TR Weekend is Newcomb’s premier event, celebrating Theodore Roosevelt’s journey out of the High Peaks Wilderness from Newcomb to the White House following President McKinley’s assassination in Buffalo NY. Events are planned over the entire weekend throughout Newcomb with cultural and informative entertainment for all ages, including fireworks!

2024 Events

Friday 

• 2:00 pm: Pickleball 
• 6:00 pm: Friendly Feud Game

Saturday

• 8:30 am to 2:30 pm: Camp Santanoni Wagon Ride with Larry Newcombe (reservations required)
• 9:00 am: Kids Fishing Derby at Wilson's Fishing Pond
• 10:00 am: Goodnow Mountain Hike and Fire Tower - meet Mike Gooden, interpreter, at the Firetower
• 10:00 am: Craft Fair - featuring many venues of Adirondack Artisans offering their specialities for sale
• 10:30 am: Woodsmen Competition - Demonstration of Woodsmen and Woodswomen skills with a competitive spirit between ESF and Paul Smiths.
• 12:00 pm: Lunch and Bake Sale + Live Music with Eric Peter at Overlook Park - What a nice way to relax, enjoy the view, and the craft fair.
• 1:00 pm: Weekend Raffle and NHM Quilt Raffle 
• 2:30 pm: Log Rolling and Water Battleship 
• 5:00 pm: Dinner at School Saturday Night - Dinner is offered at Newcomb Central School before the TR Debate with the NCS Students in Government.
• 6:00 pm: Governor TR Returns to Debate NCS Youth in Government Students 
• 9:00 pm: Fireworks Show at Overlook Park

Sunday

• 8:30 am - 2:30 pm: Wagon Ride and Tour Into Camp Santanoni (reservations required)
• 9:00 am: Golf Tournament at High Peaks Golf Course Club - Lunch is offered by a Newcomb Central School Class. Email Ed LaCourse for tee-times
• 9:00 am: TY Yandon Memorial 5K Run at Newcomb Health Center
• 10:00 am: Historical Tour of Newcomb 
• 3:00 pm: Santanoni Gatehouse Tour
