The Fort House. Steeped in history and legend, The Fort House is said to have been built using stones from Fort Ticonderoga. As the fort fell into disuse in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, local settlers repurposed its stones for new construction. According to historians, this remarkable home was built by a prominent Scottish settler family who crafted it in the style of a traditional stone residence. With only a handful of owners since its creation, much of its historic charm and character have been carefully preserved. Recognized for its significance, the home was honored with the Washington County Historic Preservation Award and has remained a cherished local landmark for centuries.
