Hit the Slopes at Gore Mountain
Want to hit the slopes over Presidents' Day weekend? Head on over to Gore Mountain! With plenty of snow in the forecast and colder temperatures, this makes for the perfect outing.
Gore is a fantastic winter destination that offers downhill skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing too at their Nordic Center. Take in the views of the surrounding Adirondack peaks as you explore the terrain over the long weekend.
This Adirondack ski resort also provides lessons for people to learn about skiing or snowboarding if you may be starting out. Options include season-long programs, private lessons, and lessons for kids as well. With more snow on the mountain, this might be the best opportunity to try something new.
Have a Blast Riding in a Snow Tube
Who said that the slopes were only reserved for skiing or snowboarding? Snow tubing is a very fun and exciting experience for families. Located in the foothills of the southern Adirondacks, West Mountain in Queensbury is an excellent choice. Tickets for their snow tubing park are available online.
If you want to go farther north into the region, there are two more fantastic options, but you are required to bring your own snow tube. One of these places is Dynamite Hill in Chestertown. There is no admission fee, and it is a great time for the family.
The second option is the Lake George Rec Center. It is recommended to bring kids that are five years and older, as the hill is quite steep! There is no admission fee. Only snow tubes (no wooden sleds) are allowed for safety.
Take a Scenic Tour of Natural Stone Bridge & Caves
Discover your next outdoor adventure at the nearby Natural Stone Bridge & Caves in Pottersville. Home to the largest marble cave entrance in the East, this is a great place for snowshoeing. Being open throughout the winter season, there will be plenty of time to explore with friends or family.
A trip to Natural Stone Bridge & Caves will be full of winter fun as you check out their 14.5 miles of snowshoe trails. Self-guided snowshoe tours are available during select dates, typically also including Presidents Week.
